What we can do about our schools!

September 27, 2010

Teachers need more pay, districts need to update curriculum and technology, and parents need to let teachers do their job, rather than interfering and/or shifting the blame for their own bad parenting. Parents need to spend quality time with their kids regarding homework, and schools need to stay open longer to help kids get their work done when parents aren’t availbale. Also, administrators need to stand up to parents rather than taking their side so much. We need to extend the school year, and as a culture, we need to value learning. Our students need to be self-motivated and leave their toys at home. Finally, we need to restore the image and power of teachers and think of education as an investment. It DOES “take a village,” so partnerships are needed including kids, parents, teachers, administrations, school districts, teacher unions, government, and businesses.

Worn out talking points? NO! We need common sense solutions rather than empty soundbites and extreme rhetoric.

The Answer Moving Us Forward

September 8, 2010

Very few politicians can be trusted nowadays because of their “us vs. them” shenanigans and the fact they are in the pockets and beholding to Wall Street, big oil, and the insurance industry.  Until our country’s needs are the first focus, there is public financing of all campaigns, and the individual morality of our politicians is restored, corporate America’s special interest lobbyists and corrupt politicians will walk hand in hand, and the American public loses.

Individual morality is the key to change in all other areas.   The character of our leaders is paramount!  Once our politicians hold themselves accountable in word and deed, they will have the sense of duty to solve the country’s problems with reliability, dependability, and commitment.  Pursuing worthy objectives with determination and patience—free of outside influences—will move America forward.

Caring and practicing justice, equity, and equality, cooperating with one another, recognizing the uniqueness and value of each individual within our diverse society will mean a firm adherence to a code of moral values by our politicians.  Being honest, trustworthy, and incorruptible will restore the American public’s faith in its elected leaders and bring about the much-needed problem-solving and the right changes that will move us forward again.

First Punish The Unemployed, Then Declare War On The Employed

August 6, 2010

We’re dealing with mindless, selfish politicians, more worried about bringing down Obama and saving their own jobs rather than giving a helping hand to millions of destitute Americans. Get out and vote, and remember which party tries to help the people, but are blocked every step of the way.

Spill Bill Vote Delayed By Senators

August 4, 2010

Show some spine, Leader Reid. Keep everyone there in D.C., and get some work done for the people. So many of the middle class and poor are hurting…those without work are destitute, and yet you get to go on vacation?

Put Elizabeth Warren in charge, Mr. President!

July 21, 2010

One of the best ways forward, regarding the selling of the benefits of financial reform to the public, is for the president to nominate Elizabeth Warren as the Consumer Protection Agency’s first administrator. Since the final bill is so watered down, strict rules must be written, and Elizabeth Warren at the helm will convince Main Street taxpayers that this will get done and that the president really sides with the people over Wall Street.

Ben Nelson Bucks Party, Helps GOP Block Jobless Aid

July 13, 2010

President Obama must use his bully pulpit and give another primetime speech to the nation wherein he explains that even though deficits are a primary concern of his administration, jobs, and putting people back to work, are even more important in the short term. To get millions of people back to work immediately, he should call out those in the Senate who are standing in the way. Tell the American people he will do everything possible, through executive order, to stimulate the economy further through a public works program, but that he also needs their help by contacting their elected officials and making it known they must act now to get people back to work.

Mayberry Machiavellis: Obama Political Team Handcuffing Recovery

July 7, 2010

President Obama is out of touch! He needs to be bold fast: be a Franklin Roosevelt; stop listening to David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel, who are fixated on the deficit and pinning him in from the true realities of ordinary Americans; through executive order, stimulate the economy with bolder jobs programs, so the unemployed are put back to work, paying taxes and purchasing goods and services; fire Larry Summers and Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner, appointing Paul Krugman as the new Secretary. Obama’s inner circle is not serving him well, and, as a result, the “small people” suffer. P.S. While he’s at it, the president should also fire Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar as well, visit the Gulf again, and get rid of the red tape that’s stil a major problem down there.

Final Derivatives Showdown Thursday: Read The House Offer

June 24, 2010

DEMS be damned! They’ve sold out the American people again regarding financial reform in favor of Wall Street. I’ve been listening to the Dylan Ratigan Show, on MSNBC, and was so outraged when he explained how Main Street is being screwed over on last-minute, financial reform sellouts, I called Dodd’s and Frank’s D.C. offices and gave them a piece of my mind. I also called Blanche Lincoln’s office and requested she hold firm on derivitives. Please, people, contact your elected officials; flood the phone lines with your outrage! http://www.contactingthecongress.org/ And President Obama and his White House Wall Street cronies are in the doghouse on this one too. http://www.whitehouse.gov
